A POÈME BY THE LAKE: KASHMIR by Falguni Shane Peacock

“Agar firdaus bar ru-ye zamin ast
Hamin ast-o hamin ast-o hamin ast…”

If there is heaven on earth
It is this, it is this, it is this…

May 2023: Falguni Shane Peacock once again display bring their passion for turning exquisite, historic destinations into scenic backdrops for their crafts. From shooting at the world heritage site Taj Mahal in Agra to getting into the untouched Lilly Pond at the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur and now, in the middle of the beautiful Dal Lake—the brand has consistently challenged itself to present a spectacular location in a new light. Via this collection, Falguni Shane Peacock want their viewers to be transported to the enchanted land of Kashmir, where they experience the magic of love and beauty.

“A land of unparalleled beauty, with its snow-capped peaks, serene lakes, and lush green valleys—Kashmir is inexplicably majestic. The scenic city of Srinagar has long been a source of inspiration for a host of poets, wordsmiths and artists who have revelled in its magnificence. We too, were captivated by its breathtaking natural beauty”, says Shane Peacock

Often referred to as a ‘heaven on earth’ for every rightful reason, the region’s tranquil atmosphere and its unmatched allure invited the designers to make it a picturesque backdrop for their summer campaign.

“One of the most beautiful sights in Kashmir is the combination of Shikaras and tulips. The colourful canopies and intricate embroidery on them made it to the embroidered motifs on the ensemble of the collection. In springtime, the lakes are also adorned with the vibrant hues of tulips, which bloom in a riot of colours and patterns. The sight of the elegant Shikaras floating among the sea of tulips is truly a feast for the eyes and a testament to the natural beauty of Kashmir. This was perhaps the most memorable and enchanting moments of our trip”, says Falguni Peacock

The luxury couturiers’ latest collection is inspired by the natural beauty of Kashmir and their continual theme of emotions of love. The campaign seeks to capture the essence of this serene paradise through a romantic and dreamy lens. The collection features an array of luxurious fabrics, intricate embroidery, and stunning motifs that are an ode to the paradisiacal beauty of the region while beautifully showcasing traditional Kashmiri embroideries, which have been carefully crafted by skilled artisans. Each piece tells a story of love and beauty, from the delicately embroidered capes to the flowing, ethereal Lehengas and Sarees. The colour palette includes Pantone colours Kashmir Green and Kashmir Blue are inspired by the natural beauty of the region. While Kashmir Green is a soothing, earthy green shade that evokes the lush green valleys and forests of the region, Kashmir Blue, on the other hand, is a deep, rich blue that is reminiscent of the sparkling lakes and clear skies of Kashmir. It has a regal and sophisticated quality that adds a touch of luxury to the design of the ensemble. Together, these two colours along with an array of colours that are borrowed from the flowers in Kashmir, capture the essence of the region and incorporate the beauty of Kashmir into their collection.
